About the Role
Perform laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives, and others regarding construction sites, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results.
Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties.
- Perform soils and aggregate testing in a laboratory environment.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss accuracy of data in preparation for submittal.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Lab Manager.
- Progressively take on increased training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Maintain assigned equipment.
- Follow safety rules and practices for all projects; perform pre-task planning prior to executing work.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Qualifications
- Obtain internal Soils Certification within the first 6 months.
Required Certification
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
