Lab Development Engineer, Dedicated Cloud Training
About the role
The Dedicated Cloud Training team is looking for a customer-obsessed, detail-oriented Lab Development Engineer to develop hands-on training labs and automation solutions to support the Curriculum Development team. You will define and implement next-generation technology for publishing training curriculum and improving the student training experience. You will work with technologies including AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to design tools and systems for integrating and publishing curriculum changes rapidly and in an agile manner. You will participate in the technical design and implementation of hands-on training labs, perform code reviews to ensure reliability and scalability across worldwide offerings, and work closely with the Curriculum Development team to design, develop, revise, and troubleshoot labs spanning AWS services. You will leverage deep technical skills and AWS expertise to ensure lab environments are rigorously tested, continuously updated, and aligned to concrete learning objectives. You will also help gather data on lab health to proactively address issues. The ideal candidate has experience designing and developing hands-on labs or technical training materials, excellent writing skills, deep technical knowledge in one or more IT domains, and the ability to analyze learning materials from a technical perspective. Above all, you will have a passion for learning and contributing to team and customer success.

Responsibilities
- Create and maintain automated lab publishing processes used by Curriculum Developers, Solutions Architects, and other cross-functional teams.
- Identify opportunities to automate curriculum publication and lab environment monitoring; implement solutions using programming languages and AWS technologies to delight customers and improve operational efficiency.
- Design and develop new labs based on requirements from Curriculum Developers and subject matter experts.
- Partner with Curriculum Developers to write lab content and ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and review of code for hands-on lab offerings so that labs are reliable, repeatable, and scalable.
- Coordinate and perform testing of new labs prior to release.
- Provide front-line support for training courses, resolving issues surfaced by customers and instructors rapidly.
- Gather and collate data from instructors and students to proactively respond to lab issues and usability feedback.
- Design and implement systems for measuring and improving lab quality, such as health dashboards and automated continuous testing frameworks.

Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- Experience designing and developing IT or technical training materials and content
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon RME (Reliability Maintenance Engineering) BB/3P Full Time Exempt experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with graphic training systems and multimedia content creation
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and reporting
- Experience with technical writing and instructional design
- Experience developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions
- Experience working cross-functionally across technical and non-technical teams
- Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
