Good Samaritan University Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is a non-profit 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center serving over 100,000 patients annually on Long Island’s south shore. Responsibilities

• Maintain and coordinate accessioning, handling, and grossing preparation of surgical specimens.
• Manage laboratory inquiries regarding specimen collection and processing for the hospital.
• Coordinate all laboratory procedures related to referred testing specimen collection and processing.
• Serve as a resource for hospital personnel on specimen procurement, testing, and results.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer experience.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Six months of experience in all phases of phlebotomy in a hospital environment.
• Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with protocols for accessioning, handling, and preparation, including thin prep processing of cytology specimens.

Pay

Salary range: USD $24.82 - USD $31.00 per hour. Actual pay will vary based on candidate qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
