About the Role
Good Samaritan University Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is a non-profit 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center serving over 100,000 patients annually on Long Island’s south shore. With nearly 900 physicians on staff, the hospital is dedicated to excellence through evidence-based practice, continual learning, and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and coordinate accessioning, handling, and grossing preparation of surgical specimens.
- Manage laboratory inquiries regarding specimen collection and processing for the hospital.
- Coordinate all laboratory procedures related to referred testing specimen collection and processing.
- Serve as a resource for hospital personnel on specimen procurement, testing, and results.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Six months of experience in all phases of phlebotomy in a hospital environment.
- Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with protocols for accessioning, handling, and preparation, including thin prep processing of cytology specimens.
Pay
Salary range: USD $24.82 - USD $31.00 per hour. Actual pay will vary based on candidate qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
