Lab Automation Applications Specialist

About the role

This is a field-based technical specialist position focused on laboratory automation systems, primarily in the Midwest region. The role involves providing comprehensive application and technical training on Waters lab automation platforms, supporting customer proficiency, and enhancing workflow efficiency. Candidates should be comfortable working in diverse teams, demonstrating customer focus, and continuously striving for technical and service excellence. The role emphasizes on-site collaboration, with flexible work arrangements for applicable positions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user training, implement customized automation solutions, and optimize laboratory workflows.
• Collaborate with Support teams to improve customer experience and provide technical input for product development.
• Develop training programs, SOPs, and technical documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards.
• Support sales through product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer engagement at trade shows.
• Assist in project management from support to post-implementation, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
• Maintain strong customer relationships, address needs, and promote product value.

Qualifications & Skills

• B.S. in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, or Microbiology; advanced degrees preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in clinical or reference laboratory settings.
• Proficiency in lab automation systems, technical support, and training methodologies.
• Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 75% and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA), LIS, and lab workflows is desirable.
