Lab Associate III - Phlebotomist

About the role

BJC is seeking a Lab Associate - Phlebotomist to join our Phlebotomy Laboratory team. This position is in Phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory duties as assigned.
• Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency.
• Sweat chloride collections, EKGs, and other assigned tasks under supervision.
• Reports test results as appropriate.
• Sorts and processes routine and specific high-level specimens received by the lab, including multistep technical processing (Histology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc.).
• Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send-out tests.
• Collaborates in coordinating a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuating workload, prioritizing work to meet scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Manages inventory, cleans, maintains, and loads equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience, including supervisor experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Phlebotomy license preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred.
