Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities

  • Ensure laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored.
  • Work within an automated laboratory environment, including loading and unloading instrumentation and maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including routine lifting of up to 40–50 lbs.
  • Support instrument maintenance by clearing consumables such as pipette tips and decapped tube caps, including proper disposal of biohazard waste.
  • Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
  • Work in a laboratory environment with biological hazards while adhering to PPE requirements.
  • Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.

Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
  • Physical demands of the role, including frequent lifting (up to 40–50 lbs), standing, and repetitive motion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort working with and disposing of biohazard materials in accordance with safety protocols.

  • 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, production, or automation-focused environment.
