Lab Assistant
Job Summary
Support scientific professionals by preparing samples and maintaining specialized equipment. Perform routine automated testing in multiple areas of the clinical laboratory under direct supervision of licensed personnel. Verify eligibility, benefits, authorization requirements, PCP approval, and billing requirements as appropriate. Work out of various patient service centers. Use of personal vehicles may be required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples and maintain specialized equipment
- Perform routine automated testing in multiple areas of the clinical laboratory under direct supervision of licensed personnel
- Review quality control for testing performed by licensed personnel
- Clerical tasks such as patient registration, telephone communication, filing, sorting, distribution, typing, data entry, and frequent use of laboratory computer systems to process specimens
- Verify eligibility, benefits, authorization requirements, PCP approval, and billing requirements as appropriate
- Work out of various patient service centers
- Use of personal vehicles may be required
Requirements
- Six (6) months of experience as a laboratory assistant
- Six (6) months of experience in phlebotomy working in an acute care facility
- Current California Phlebotomy certification (CT PHLEBOT)
- Clinical Lab Technician certification can be accepted in lieu of
- American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)
Preferred
- One (1) year of experience as a laboratory assistant in an acute care facility

Pay Range:
$34.24 - $42.78 /hour
