About the role
The Department of Labor & Industries is seeking an individual to support the mission of the agency as it pertains to safeguarding the safety and health of the workforce. The L&I Auditor 3 position directly supports this mission by ensuring employers carry industrial insurance and pay the correct amount of industrial insurance premiums.
Responsibilities
- Identify businesses suspected of non-compliance.
- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct audits of business financial records.
- Evaluate and verify financial records.
- Conduct computer research on firm's accounts with other agency programs.
- Review employment contracts and conduct fact-finding interviews.
- Perform on-site tours of employer’s facility and survey employer’s business activity to evaluate and document operations.
- Prepare report of audit findings.
- Prepare subpoenas and other legal documents as needed.
- Testify at industrial insurance appeals and court proceedings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting with the ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Two (2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, or a Bachelor’s degree that includes at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting.
- Equivalent education/experience will be considered but must include at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting.

Pay
The salary range for each of the job classifications is as follows:
- L&I Auditor 1 - $4,108-$5,506 per month
- L&I Auditor 2 - $4,406-$5,928 per month
- L&I Auditor 3 - $4,866-$6,542 per month
Schedule
This is a hybrid position that requires some in-office time. For positions where in-office work is necessary, the frequency of telework will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.
