About the Role
A Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit provides skilled, compassionate, and evidence-based care to perinatal patients, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for mothers and newborns. The nurse conducts maternal and fetal assessments, monitors vital signs and fetal heart rates, and recognizes early signs of complications. The role requires thorough knowledge of obstetrical standards, emergency response skills, and patient-centered care practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct maternal and fetal assessments
- Monitor patients and recognize complications
- Support high-risk and postpartum patients
- Respond to obstetrical emergencies such as hemorrhage or fetal distress
Requirements
- BSN preferred from CCNE-accredited schools
- Maryland RN License
- BLS certification; ACLS & NRP certifications required before orientation
- Minimum of 1 year L&D experience
