About the Role
A Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit provides compassionate, evidence-based care to women throughout the perinatal period, supporting all obstetrical levels including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and obstetrical emergencies.
The position involves conducting maternal and fetal assessments, monitoring vital signs, fetal heart rates, and uterine activity, and recognizing early signs of complications. The nurse cares for high-risk pregnancies, manages postpartum recovery, and participates in emergency responses such as hemorrhage or fetal distress.
Responsibilities
- Perform maternal and fetal assessments
- Care for high-risk and postpartum patients
- Respond to obstetrical emergencies
Requirements
- BSN preferred from CCNE-accredited schools
- Maryland RN license
- American Heart Association BLS certification; ACLS & NRP required before orientation
- Minimum of 1 year L&D experience
