About the role

We are looking for a KOMO CNC Operator for our 2nd shift. This position operates a KOMO CNC Routing Machine to produce contoured plywood parts. The operator must be familiar with safety features and guidelines, maintain quality standards, and perform upkeep of the machine area. The role involves close coordination with the previous shift to address any changeover needs.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and shut down the KOMO CNC Routing Machine.
  • Understand programming, locate, and maneuver programs needed to operate the machine.
  • Interpret machine codes or learn them as required.
  • Change bits, re-order bits, sharpen blades, and replace drill or flush mill bits.
  • Communicate with Quality Assurance to review parts or quality issues.
  • Conduct basic maintenance on the KOMO work-centers.
  • Familiarize with all emergency shut-offs, stops, and resets.
  • Understand the self-lubricating mechanism on the machine.
  • Follow the enhanced dispatch list.
  • Enter ECOs (internal system to request changes) and submit maintenance requests.
  • Change between materials as necessary.
  • Presence in the workplace is essential.
  • Train others on the KOMO’s operation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English for safety purposes.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Good understanding of the metric system and related tools.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure shift coordination.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings/blueprints.
  • Prior CNC experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, or similar software is a plus.

Working Conditions

This role operates in a typical wood manufacturing environment, which includes loud noise, dust, and aromas. The facility is indoors but temperatures vary with outdoor conditions, and some areas may be hot or cold. Workers may be subject to vibration, moving mechanical parts, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Stand for long periods, with frequent walking.
  • Perform repetitive body movements, including extending arms, grasping, flexing wrists, bending, and twisting.
  • Physical capability to perform all essential functions of the role.

Schedule

Hours are typically 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
