About the role
Knox County Head Start provides Early Childhood Education using a holistic approach that recognizes we must meet the needs of the whole child. We are looking for a high energy, enthusiastic Nutrition Assistant to help prepare two meals and one snack daily for up to 200 children as well as adult lunches when requested.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation
- Pack food items for off-site centers
- Set-up of food carts for local classrooms
- Maintain proper storage and inventory of all food materials
- Wash dishes and cooking utensils
- Clean and sanitize work areas
- Other duties as required
Requirements

About the role
Knox County Head Start (KCHS) is a leading provider of quality early childhood education in our community. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes the holistic development of young minds. As a Teacher Aide Floater, you will play a crucial role in assisting our dedicated teaching staff in providing a stimulating and engaging learning environment for children enrolled in our program. This is an entry-level position, perfect for someone who has a genuine love for children and is eager to kickstart a rewarding career in Early Childhood Education. KCHS currently has openings for this position in both Mount Vernon and Fredericktown.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and engaging educational activities
- Support individual and group activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Provide one-on-one attention to children with special needs, as required
- Participate in classroom setup, cleanup, and maintenance
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a well-organized and welcoming learning environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (experience or training in Early Childhood Education is a plus)
- Passion for working with children and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Patience, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting
- Previous experience working with children, whether in a formal or informal setting, is beneficial but not required

Requirements
- Lead teachers must qualify with a minimum of an Associate’s degree in ECE
