About The Firm

Kutak Rock seeks a Knowledge Services Manager, Practice Support to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of practice area knowledge resources. Reporting to the Director of Knowledge Services, this individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring our attorneys, paralegals, and staff have access to the tools and information they need to deliver exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Director of Knowledge Services and practice group leaders, design and execute practice area-specific knowledge management strategies aligned with practice group needs and client service goals.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance knowledge workflows, systems, and resources.
  • Identify and collect relevant legal precedents, forms, checklists, and other practice-specific documents from attorneys.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base within the firm’s document management system.
  • Implement tagging and metadata systems to facilitate efficient search and retrieval of information.
  • Collaborate with practice area leaders to create intranet knowledge resources.
  • Ensure all knowledge content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with legal industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT to integrate Knowledge Management tools with practice group systems and ensure seamless workflows.
  • Evaluate and recommend legal technology tools to enhance practice group knowledge management capabilities and increase efficiency.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and support the integration of legal AI and generative AI tools (e.g., document drafting, research, and summarization platforms) into practice group workflows to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Engage with practice group attorneys to encourage active participation in knowledge capture and sharing.
  • Partner with practice groups to identify and address practice-specific knowledge needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to drive the adoption of Knowledge Management tools and processes within practice groups.
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly AI enablement resources—such as approved prompt guides, quick-start materials, and FAQs—to help attorneys and staff use approved AI tools effectively and accurately.
  • Deliver training and engagement activities (e.g., lunch-and-learn sessions and demonstrations) that promote adoption of approved AI tools and reinforce responsible, firm-approved usage.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to ensure practice group users can maximize the value of Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • Track usage and engagement with Knowledge Management tools and resources within assigned practice areas.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of practice group Knowledge Management initiatives and recommend enhancements based on data-driven analysis.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and their application in the legal industry.
  • Familiarity with Knowledge Management platforms and tools, such as NetDocuments and Litera.
  • Familiarity with legal AI and generative AI tools (e.g., Harvey AI, or comparable platforms) and an interest in evaluating emerging legal technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and people skills, with a focus on stakeholder engagement.
  • Analytical thinker with an initiative-taking approach to identifying and solving challenges.
  • Ability to analyze data and use metrics to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in library and/or information studies or Juris Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in knowledge management in a law firm.
  • Proven record of implementing Knowledge Management systems and driving user adoption and familiarity with legal processes and law firm operations is a strong plus.
  • SharePoint intranet publishing experience required.

Position Information

  • Status: Exempt
  • Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000, per year, commensurate with education and experience
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid 3:2, with Manager approval in one of the following firm offices: Atlanta, GA; Little Rock, AR; Omaha, NE; Scottsdale, AZ; or Washington, DC.
