About the role
Coachella Valley Unified School District covers more than 1,200 square miles of mostly rural desert terrain, serving the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, Indio, and the Salton Sea. Responsibilities
Performs food preparation such as baking, cooking, heating and serving duties to students and staff; maintains and cleans equipment and work areas according to established sanitation standards and regulations; and inspects food items to monitor quality and quantity.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) year experience in food preparation, serving, and basic kitchen activities.
- Licenses/Certifications: State‑accepted Food Safety Certificate (must be uploaded with application).
- Pre‑hire documentation: TB clearance (within 6 months), Fingerprint Clearance, Pass District Test, Valid California Driver's License, Valid Minimum Liability Car Insurance.
- Additional submission requirements: Food Handler's Certificate, two letters of recommendation (dated within the last 12 months, original signatures), proof of HS graduation, resume.
Pay
Salary is dependent on experience; Classified Salary Schedule: $22.23 – $24.53 hourly (Step 30 A‑C).
Schedule
Length of work year: 182 days; 3.5 hours per day; Part‑time employment.
