Kitchen Utility Worker

About the role

The Kitchen Utility Worker supports the Culinary Supervisor/Chef Supervisor by performing routine sanitation tasks, managing deliveries, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Sweeping and mopping floors in kitchen and cafeteria areas
• Washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware in the dish room
• Putting service ware through the dishwasher
• Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen equipment
• Stocking and inventorying kitchen food and supplies
• Fulfilling orders and returning them to the supervisor for review
• Attending and participating in required meetings and trainings
• Ensuring confidentiality in accordance with state and local regulations
• Completing other job-related duties as assigned
• Communicating regularly with the supervisor about culinary issues

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma preferred
• Working knowledge of chemical safety practices
• Available to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as assigned
• Understanding of First in First Out (FIFO) stocking practices
• Ability to walk, stoop, stand, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds most of the working day

Skills

• Knowledge of maintenance issues relating to the Culinary Department
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb, and lift
• Knowledgeable in the types of paints and their usage
• Ability to use hammers, screwdrivers, and various office tools
• Positive and cooperative working relationships with all employees
• Respectful of diverse cultures, ethnic, and religious differences
