About the role

The Kitchen Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen within a retail trade environment. This position is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen activities, maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene, and managing kitchen staff to deliver exceptional service. The Kitchen Supervisor ensures compliance with all health regulations and company policies while optimizing workflow to meet customer demand. They act as a key liaison between kitchen staff and management, facilitating communication and problem-solving to maintain a productive work environment. Ultimately, the role aims to enhance customer satisfaction through consistent food quality and timely service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to maintain company standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations within the kitchen area.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste through effective resource management.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen team members to promote professional development and high performance.
  • Collaborate with management to plan menus, schedule staff shifts, and implement operational improvements.
  • Address and resolve any kitchen-related issues or customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Production system and record keeping experience. High volume food production.
  • Speaks both English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in food safety.
  • Experience working in a retail trade or fast-paced food service environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and ordering systems.
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting and cost control.
