Responsibilities
- Supports the culinary and restaurant teams by maintaining clean, safe, and organized kitchen and employee dining areas.
- Operates the dishwashing machine and ensures it is clean, stocked, and functioning properly.
- Scrapes, washes, sanitizes, air-dries, sorts, and properly stores dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, trays, and kitchen utensils.
- Checks and cleans dish machine filters and confirms that gauges and chemical dispensers are operating properly.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors throughout the shift.
- Cleans floor mats and makes sure they are safely positioned and free from grease, trash, and damage.
- Cleans and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators, equipment surfaces, and other assigned kitchen areas.
- Frequently empties trash and recycling, replaces liners, and moves waste to designated disposal areas.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the employee dining area, including floors, furniture, refrigeration, carts, and equipment.
- Stocks the employee dining area for meal service and removes dirty dishes after service.
- Reports damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, or supply needs to kitchen leadership.
- Completes other duties as assigned to support kitchen and restaurant operations.
Qualifications
- No previous kitchen or stewarding experience is required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and workplace safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Washington State Food Worker Card.
Physical Requirements
- This position regularly requires standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or carrying kitchen supplies, dishes, cookware, and trash.
- The employee must be able to safely perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The work environment includes a busy commercial kitchen, exposure to heat, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, sharp objects, and varying temperatures.
Schedule
- Schedules are based on business needs and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Employees are responsible for reviewing their posted schedule, arriving on time, and obtaining leadership approval for any schedule changes.
