About Our Property

The Houston Marriott Westchase is one of the largest full-service Marriott hotels in Houston. As a premier business-friendly and event-focused property, we offer over 604 guest rooms, with more than 43,000 square feet of event space, as well as the Republic Grill Restaurant, the Republic Lounge for evening cocktails, and an on-site Starbucks for a quick grab-and-go coffee located inside our Gift Shop. We are conveniently located in the Westchase District, just 3 miles south of Memorial City Mall, off of Beltway 8 and Westheimer.

Responsibilities

• Operate large commercial dishwasher equipment to wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely and efficient manner.
• Hand scrub pots and pans; burnish, de-tarnish, and polish silver.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and back-of-house areas.
• Remove trash and food waste according to safety standards.
• Ensure that all kitchen equipment and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic support tasks as needed.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a kitchen steward in a full-service hotel, restaurant, or similar food service environment that uses large commercial cleaning equipment is desired.
• Availability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong work ethic with ability to work well in a team and effectively communicate with staff.
• Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment and respond with a sense of urgency when needed.
• Frequent lifting, moving, and handling of food, equipment, carts, and tubs up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
• Frequent and repeated lifting, extending arms fully, reaching, twisting, pulling, bending, stooping, and climbing up/down small ladders for the duration of the shift.
• Able to work in varying temperatures and noise levels, including exposure to hot surfaces, steam, and loud commercial cleaning equipment.
• Moving throughout the entire kitchen and outside trash disposal areas for the duration of the shift.
• Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to observe and adhere to all health and safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, working 5 days a week, with the ability to work any day of the week, either morning or evening shifts, including weekends and holidays. The typical schedule includes 2 morning shifts and 3 evening shifts, and will change weekly based on business demands.
