Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shift (no weekends or on-call).

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Dietary Manager/Head Cook to join our Memory Care + Assisted Living community. This position prepares meals according to the menu using batch cooking methods, ensures meals are presented and served to residents within customer-service standards, and keeps the dining room clean and presentable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals following the menu and batch-cooking methods.
  • Accommodate special dietary needs and substitute ingredients as required.
  • Make emergency decisions (e.g., missing food deliveries) and consult with supervisor.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain all kitchen equipment safely.
  • Order food and supplies, maintain inventory, and work within a budget while preserving menu integrity.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and make well-thought-out inventory recommendations.
  • Plan for special events, activities, and changes; organize work area efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Nurse Manager to accommodate residents on special diets.
  • Respect building property, eliminate waste, and protect equipment.
  • Maintain a cheerful, cooperative relationship with coworkers and residents.
  • Address resident complaints and concerns respectfully, directing issues to the Assisted Living Director.
  • Accommodate resident requests promptly when appropriate (e.g., food substitutions).
  • Follow safety and sanitation techniques (handwashing, proper equipment use, cleaning products).
  • Label, date, and rotate stock; report accidents and injuries immediately.
  • Prepare food ahead for weekend and evening meals, leaving clear instructions for staff.
  • Provide snacks appropriate for the senior population.
  • Abide by Food and Beverage License requirements; report resident changes to on-duty staff.
  • Document temperatures and other required records.
  • Take initiative to complete tasks and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (minimum).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Dietary Manager, Head Cook, or similar role in a Senior Living community (highly preferred).
  • Active ServSafe Certification (required upon hire).
  • Certified Food Manager (CFPM) license (required upon hire).
  • Computer literacy for ordering and inventory management.

Pay

$22–$26/hour (DOE, negotiable).
