About the Role

Parkwest Bicycle Casino is seeking a Kitchen Helper in the Food & Beverage department to assist in preparing and serving/plating food in an exciting atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Assist the kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping, peeling, and slicing ingredients.
• Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and meats for meal prep.
• Dice and cut food necessary for preparation of sauces, soups, gravies, and stews.
• Set up work stations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
• Prepare simple dishes such as salads and entrees.
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves for organization and easy access.
• Maintain contact with the Butcher for the quality and freshness of products.
• Assist Cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed; provide cooks with required items.
• Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
• Help prepare and carve all meats for buffet and Banquet lines.
• Prepare all set-up requirements for daily menu and specials.
• Prepare pizza with toppings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test.
• Must possess a California Food Handler Card.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and co-workers.
• Able to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
• Available for full-time work including weekends and evening scheduling; ready for all programs and activities.
• Able to work varied shifts and flexible schedules.
• Able to communicate clearly with team members.
• Requires ability to multi-task effectively.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to work within a team environment.

Qualifications

• No specific education required. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• One to two years’ experience in a kitchen of comparable quality preferred but not required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.

Pay

USD $17.50/Hr. – USD $18.25/Hr.
