As a Kitchen Floater, you’ll play a unique and impactful role supporting both our Early Head Start and Child Care programs. This position combines kitchen responsibilities with classroom support—helping ensure children receive nutritious meals while also contributing to a safe, engaging learning environment. Requirements & Responsibilities Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with approved menus and food safety guidelinesAssist with grocery shopping and maintaining kitchen inventoryMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment dailyTrack and follow all child food allergies and dietary needsDeliver meals to classrooms and support meal service as neededProvide classroom support by assisting with daily routines, supervision, and transitionsHelp maintain safe, clean, and organized classroom environmentsCollaborate with teachers and program staff to meet Head Start and Child Care standardsAttend staff meetings and program meetings as requiredAssist with occasional evening events (e.g., health fairs, parent engagement nights) Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent1 year of experience working with foodSome experience working with infants and toddlersValid Food Handler PermitKnowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practicesStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in EnglishIntermediate computer/tablet proficiency Preferred: Experience working in a commercial kitchenKnowledge of CACFP regulations and Head Start standards Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMYear-round positionOccasional schedule variations and evening events Benefits Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holiday pay401(k) with employer matchStable, consistent scheduleSupportive, team-oriented work environmentOpportunity to make a direct impact in children’s lives We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
