Kitchen Expeditor - JOEY Manhattan Beach

This position earns a base hourly rate between $16.90 and $28.00 and is eligible to participate in the company tip pool. Tip pool distributions fluctuate; on average, employees in this role may earn an additional $3.00 to $8.00 per hour in tips.

About the role

The Kitchen Expeditor is the food expert in the restaurant and acts as a resource for both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) team members regarding dish ingredients, allergies, and special requests. As the final quality-control checkpoint, the Expeditor ensures consistent, high-quality, and specification-compliant food is delivered to guests every time.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the team to deliver perfect food coordination.
• Work as a team with the Chef/Sous Chef to quality-check all food before it leaves the kitchen.
• Follow all instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds.
• Report equipment problems and maintenance issues to leadership immediately.
• Follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of culinary experience (candidates with high potential but less experience are encouraged to apply).
• Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler permits.
• Passion for hospitality and a proven track record of creating world-class hospitality experiences.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods; frequent bending, reaching, and stretching; repetitive manual tasks; and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
