About the Role

This position performs food service duties in a residential community correction facility, adhering to Wyoming Department of Health standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals for residents
• Receives and stores all food deliveries
• Maintains inventory of kitchen stock supplies and notifies Kitchen Manager of reordering needs
• Records refrigerator and freezer temperatures
• Ensures Kitchen and Dining Room are clean and meet sanitation and safety regulations
• Documents and submits reports regarding resident behaviors/incidents
• Washes dishes
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization.

Work Environment

This job operates in a residential community corrections facility, routinely using standard kitchen equipment such as stoves, scales, mixers, dishwashers, and knives.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and taste or smell
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds with support
• Sufficient close vision is needed to perform duties such as checking the appearance of food, using a food processor and meat slicer, measuring ingredients, reading, writing, and taking food temperatures

Schedule

This is a full-time or part-time position. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed is required. Little to no travel is expected for this position.

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent
• ServSafe certified (if not certified, training will be made available)
• At least two years of experience as a Cook in a commercial setting
• Must be able to pass a background check with the Wyoming Department of Corrections and Bureau of Prisons

Preferred Qualifications

• Institutional cooking experience
