About the Role
This position performs food service duties in a residential community correction facility, adhering to Wyoming Department of Health standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and serves meals for residents
- Receives and stores all food deliveries
- Maintains inventory of kitchen stock supplies and notifies Kitchen Manager of reordering needs
- Records refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- Ensures Kitchen and Dining Room are clean and meet sanitation and safety regulations
- Documents and submits reports regarding resident behaviors/incidents
- Washes dishes
- Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

Work Environment
This job operates in a residential community corrections facility, routinely using standard kitchen equipment such as stoves, scales, mixers, dishwashers, and knives.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and taste or smell
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds with support
- Sufficient close vision is needed to perform duties such as checking the appearance of food, using a food processor and meat slicer, measuring ingredients, reading, writing, and taking food temperatures
Schedule
This is a full-time or part-time position. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed is required. Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent
- ServSafe certified (if not certified, training will be made available)
- At least two years of experience as a Cook in a commercial setting
- Must be able to pass a background check with the Wyoming Department of Corrections and Bureau of Prisons
Preferred Qualifications
- Institutional cooking experience
