About the Role

The Kindergarten Teacher provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young learners.

Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of kindergarten students.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional resources, technology, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Integrate literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning throughout daily instruction.

Student Assessment

  • Assess student learning using formal and informal assessment methods.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of academic performance.
  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and provide targeted interventions.
  • Participate in required state and district assessments.

Classroom Environment

  • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement effective classroom management practices that promote student engagement and self-regulation.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and encourage respect, responsibility, and cooperation.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Conduct parent conferences and participate in school-family engagement events.
  • Collaborate with families to support student learning and development.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, support staff, and administrators.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with special education, English Learner, and intervention staff to support student success.
  • Maintain compliance with district policies, state regulations, and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices.
  • Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and instructional tools.
