About the role

The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young learners. The teacher plans and delivers instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and utilizes developmentally appropriate practices to foster student growth and achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction and Curriculum Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of kindergarten students.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional resources, technology, and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Integrate literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning throughout daily instruction.
  • Assess student learning using formal and informal assessment methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of academic performance and use assessment data to guide instruction and provide targeted interventions.
  • Participate in required state and district assessments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education practices.
  • Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and instructional tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • At least two years of successful teaching experience in a kindergarten classroom.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Pass a background check.
