Kiln Fireman/PM Technician

About the Role

You will be responsible for the full operation of the burning department, including dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems. Duties encompass operation, adjustments, preventive maintenance, repair, quality checks, and completing shift and daily reports.

Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, and perform preventive maintenance on dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems
• Monitor kilns and make necessary adjustments
• Conduct daily equipment checks; repair or report issues to supervisor
• Operate automatic transfer cars
• Participate in department housekeeping and meet standards
• Fill in for other department employees as needed
• Perform daily brick quality tests
• Complete daily reports using basic computer skills
• Obtain forklift license
• Use hand tools to adjust, repair, and perform preventive maintenance
• Repair and rebuild kiln cars
• Change fan belts and sheaves
• Troubleshoot kiln operations and assist as needed
• Perform minor maintenance tasks in other departments when requested
• Train new employees

Requirements

• Work safely and obey all safety signs and warnings
• Wear required PPE: hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc.
• Ability and willingness to assist throughout the plant as needed

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
• Regularly twist, stoop, and bend
• Climb ladders and steps; work in high places
• Work in hot conditions

Rotating night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
