Job Summary
The Kids Club Counselor is responsible for providing supervision as well as a fun and safe environment for elementary children before and after their school day.
Essential Functions
- Set up and take down (games, crafts, sign-in/out book) the Kids Club area each shift.
- Meet and greet children and parents.
- Meet with parents to discuss issues as needed.
- Cookordinate and participate in group activities with children.
- Assist children with homework as needed.
- Set-up, instruct, assist and clean up craft activity with children.
- Interact with children individually, games and conversations.
- Responsible for attendance and missing child procedure.
- Set-up and clean-up of snacks.
- Provide first-aid care if needed and be familiar with medical needs to children.
- Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of District’s safety program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- First Aid/CPR certified.
- Aptitude to deal with multiple children’s needs at the same time.
- Utilize positive discipline techniques with children.
- Capability to manage a variety of personalities and behaviors in children, i.e. shy, upset, high energy.
- Ability to recognize sensitive situations with children and be able to respond timely.
- Ability to communicate with the public.
- Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to portray a professional image of the District.
- Capability to engage and manage children in group activities.
Education and Experience
- This position requires a High School diploma or 16 years of age with a demonstrated interest and skill in pursuing a career in education and/or child care and two years of experience in working with children.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Majority of time spent standing, walking, and moving.
- Most activities are performed indoors, exposure to weather conditions during outdoor play time activities.
- May be exposed to excessive noise from children, music.
- May be required to assist with set up of programs and classrooms which may include bending, reaching, lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs.
Pay Rate
- : 6:15AM - 8:45AM, $17.50 per hour (AM shift start times may vary from 6:15am to 7:00am)
- : 3:15PM - 6:00PM, $15.00 per hour
