About the Role

The Kid Zone Program Specialist ensures a safe, fun area for children 2 months through 10 years old and their families to interact and enjoy.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 4:00 pm–7:00 pm, and Saturday, 8:00 am–2:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises play and group activities of Kid Zone participants
  • Maintains discipline and order
  • Maintains supervision of participants
  • Handles parent/member concerns
  • Registers each Kid Zone participant
  • Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
  • Ensures equipment is clean and safe
  • Enforces safety standards for the operation of the Kid Zone
  • Implements Character Development: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility
  • Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association

Pay

$14.35 – $17.93 per hour. Part-time, non-exempt (up to 25 hours per week).

Requirements

Know How

  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Six months to one year childcare or customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with children of all ages

Certifications

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
  • AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
