About the role

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Kid Zone Attendant will supervise children and provide a safe and fun-filled experience while their parents are using the YMCA facility.

Responsibilities

• Build effective, authentic relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and staff; greet each child and parent by name.
• Follow policies and perform related administrative procedures.
• Position self for optimal interaction and supervision of assigned children; monitor drop-off and pick-up to ensure safety and well-being.
• Actively engage with children on an individual basis while maintaining control of the entire group; initiate age-appropriate games and activities and provide clear, consistent expectations for behavior.
• Set firm limits with positive phrasing and actions when necessary; support and demonstrate discipline practices in accordance with YMCA policies.
• Provide basic care for children; follow special instructions from parents and communicate with staff and parents.
• Convey information on youth and family programs and schedules; refer children and parents to other programs as appropriate.
• Gather feedback from members and share with supervisor to improve service.
• Submit completed records on time (e.g., attendance, behavior issues).
• Complete daily cleaning duties and additional tasks as deemed necessary; report facility or equipment irregularities, unsafe conditions, or feedback to supervisor verbally and in writing.
• Be knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency procedures; follow and enforce all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.
• Report all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form and provide to supervisor within 24 hours of the event.
• Attend all required training sessions and scheduled meetings; maintain prompt hours and follow established procedures for absences.
• Support Strong Community Campaign fundraising efforts.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
