About the role
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Kid Zone Supervisor to positively impact the community by helping children reach their potential and enact age-appropriate goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a fun, safe, and clean environment for children to play and learn
- Offer assistance to co-workers; frees hands to help others
- Ask the children questions and build on that information during subsequent visits
- Greet parents with a smile; learn their names whenever possible; ask parents open-ended questions and build on that information during subsequent visits
- Consistently greet parents at pick-up with positive feedback about their children, even if the ensuing negative feedback is necessary; end the conversation with an affirmation
- Interact with co-workers and members respectfully
- Vigilantly monitor the children and their environment
- Prevent risk, bullying, and misbehavior
- Communicate with the team on duty to prioritize the current tasks at hand
- Follows all opening/closing procedures - without direction from the Lead - when working during opening/closing shifts
- Attend required organizational and departmental meetings
- Demonstrate a willingness to further understand child development concepts and/or behavior management skills through materials provided by Supervisor
Requirements
- 18+ years of age
- 2+ years of experience working in child care - does not have to be professional
- Possess leadership skills or experience
- Able to perform life-saving skills in First Aid/CPR/AED/Emergency Oxygen (training provided)
