KFC Yum! Center - Director of Finance
KFC Yum! Center is a 22,000-seat multi-use entertainment venue in Louisville, Kentucky, offering world-class events including University of Louisville Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, concerts, family shows, sporting events, and other special events. The venue is owned by the Louisville Arena Authority and managed by Legends Global, a premier partner to the world’s greatest live events, venues, and brands.
About the role
The Director of Finance will oversee the finance and accounting functions of the KFC Yum! Center, directly supervising Finance Department employees in day-to-day facility accounting. This role serves as part of the venue’s senior leadership team and includes serving as Executive on Duty for select events. Responsibilities are coordinated with the General Manager and Legends Global’s Regional Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain internal controls and compliance in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Box Office/Ticketing.
- Maintain compliance for tax reporting purposes.
- Review and sign off on bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other analyses as needed.
- Create, maintain, and manage budgeting and forecasting, including operating budget, monthly forecasting, capital budget, and cash flow analysis.
- Perform and manage show-related activities such as settlements, accounting, and event reporting.
- Account for box office/ticketing funds.
- Supervise the process of recording manual journal entries and oversee finance-related processes (fixed assets, payroll, etc.) to ensure accounting records are complete and accurate.
- Prepare and submit financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide analysis for event and vendor contract terms.
- Work with outside auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.
- Prepare other financial reports and analyses as requested.
- Manage the facility’s cash flow needs, investing idle funds while maintaining a minimum operating account balance.
- Manage all Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Report on the financial performance of the arena operation to the Louisville Arena Authority Board of Directors alongside the General Manager.
- Manage and execute Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions for the Louisville Arena Authority.
- Hire, train, and retain finance and accounting staff.
Requirements
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year college/university or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-7 years of related work experience.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, financial systems, and controls.
- Capable of handling all aspects of the accounting cycle and principles and techniques of venue operation.
- Experience using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in the facilities/arena management industry (preferred but not required).
- Strong business acumen and ability to influence change and drive results.
- Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
- Excellent math skills and high aptitude for figures.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
- CPA preferred.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information.
- Ability to work under above-average pressure to meet urgent deadlines.
- Ability to work long, irregular hours and weekends as dictated by event schedules and projects.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis.
Physical Demands
- This position operates onsite in a professional office environment within a live-event facility.
- Work is primarily sedentary with extended periods of computer use, along with occasional walking throughout the facility.
- The role requires the ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain focus during peak reporting periods.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision for review of statistical and other financial records.
