About the Role
DPC Veterinary Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Kennel team. Our well-trained and compassionate Doctors and technicians are dedicated to providing the highest standards of veterinary care to our clients and patients. Most of our support staff have been providing quality care to our patients and clients for 10+ years.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years old.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
- Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
- Approaches job duties in a mature manner.
- Excellent client communication skills.
Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (assisted by other staff members for animals over 40 lbs.). Walks or stands for extended periods; frequently works in a bent position.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
Responsibilities
- Handle and restrain animals (including but not limited to dogs, domestic and feral cats).
- Provide care for animals housed or visiting the Hospital.
- Report signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to animal health technicians/veterinarians.
- Ensure cages and animals are properly identified.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels.
- Perform general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease.
- Laundry duties.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Record basic medical notes, such as bath or medicated dip notes, nail trim, anal gland expression notes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Work Saturdays and Sundays.
- Work Holidays.
- Full-time: 4-day work week, 10-hour shifts.
- Part-time: 2-day work week, 10-hour shifts.
