About the role

The Kennel Assistant maintains a safe, clean environment for our furry guests while providing daily care and interacting with clients during drop-off and pick-up. The position is extremely demanding and requires a deep understanding of dog behavior, excellent handling skills, and the ability to redirect inappropriate behavior safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals: feeding, watering, and exercising
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal living areas
• Monitor the health and well-being of animals
• Assist with bathing and grooming as needed
• Administer medications under the direction of veterinary staff
• Interact with pet owners and deliver excellent customer service

Requirements

• Experience in animal handling or related field preferred but not required
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks
• Knowledge of basic animal care practices
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in weekend rotations, working shifts every other weekend
• Must be reliable and understand dog behavior and body language
