McGehee Clinic for Animals, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is an AAHA-accredited, four-doctor practice in Memphis, TN. One of our doctors is a member of the ABVP, and we’ve been voted Best Veterinary Clinic in Memphis over seven times. About the role

The Kennel Assistant maintains a safe, clean environment for our furry guests and interacts with clients during drop-off and pick-up. The position is extremely demanding and requires excellent dog-handling skills, a solid understanding of dog behavior and body language, and the ability to redirect inappropriate behavior safely.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for animals: feeding, watering, and exercising
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and animal living areas
• Monitor the health and well-being of animals
• Assist with bathing and grooming as needed
• Administer medications under the direction of veterinary staff
• Interact with pet owners and deliver excellent customer service

Requirements

• Experience in animal handling or related field preferred but not required
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks
• Knowledge of basic animal care practices
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must participate in weekend rotations, working shifts every other weekend
• Must be reliable
