Kennel Assistant
Pawsitive Veterinary Care is seeking a detail-oriented, self-driven Kennel Assistant to join our team. You’ll provide compassionate patient husbandry, maintain a clean and safe hospital environment, and support the veterinary team.
About the role
As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, you will focus on patient care and general housekeeping duties throughout the hospital. You’ll feed and walk boarding patients, administer medications, monitor for medical or behavioral concerns, and document observations. You’ll also sanitize kennels, common spaces, and treatment areas, and keep supplies well stocked.
Responsibilities
- Provide meals and scheduled walks to boarding patients
- Administer medications as directed
- Monitor patients for any medical or behavioral changes and report observations to the veterinary team
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care and behavior
- Sanitize kennels, common spaces, and treatment areas to ensure a clean, safe environment
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory as needed
- Handle, restrain, and walk dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments under supervision
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as a veterinary kennel assistant or kennel technician preferred
- Related animal-care experience (boarding, doggy daycare, FFA, 4H) considered
- Genuine passion for animal care and patient wellbeing
- Confidence working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
- Ability to safely handle, restrain, walk, and monitor animals
- Strong awareness of animal behavior and willingness to learn patient-safety techniques
- Dependability, attention to detail, and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Physical ability to meet the demands of a hands-on animal-care role
- Strong observational skills and willingness to communicate patient concerns
- Interest in learning and growing within the veterinary profession

Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law.
Pay
$12.50–$14.50 per hour, based on experience and location.
Schedule
Part-time, flexible shifts with availability required Friday through Monday. Weekend shifts on rotation.
