Carriage Animal Hospital in Lombard, Illinois is seeking a Full-time Kennel Attendant to join our team.
About the role
Kennel attendants provide the basic needs of animals that are being boarded, groomed, in daycare, or that are patients in the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and sanitizing cages, boarding area, bathrooms, and other clinic spaces
- Feeding and caring for canines, felines, and occasionally pocket pets (e.g., hamsters)
- Walking canines (regardless of weather) and changing feline litter pans
- Doing laundry, washing, and sanitizing pet dishes
- Cleaning and maintaining the hospital interior and exterior premises (including lobby, lunch room, groom room, storage room, and other areas as needed)
- Checking on all patients throughout the day
- Bathing pets for the groomer or kennel baths after boarding
- Preparing pets for dismissal
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians when needed
- Administering medications to hospitalized or boarding patients (training provided)
- Communicating with veterinarians and technicians about the health of boarded or hospitalized patients
- Maintaining an efficient log of patients in the clinic
Requirements
- Some kennel experience (e.g., working at a veterinary clinic, shelter, daycare, or caring for own pets)
- Strong communication skills
- Flexible schedule; weekends and holidays are required (no exceptions)
- Dependable, reliable, punctual, and organized
- Ability to work well on a team
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Reliable transportation
Priority will be given to applicants with veterinary and/or kennel experience.

Pay
The base hourly range for this position is $15–$17. Pay is determined by experience, skills, and relevant training.
Schedule
Full-time and part-time positions are available, with shifts Monday–Friday and alternating weekends.
