Kennel Assistant
About the role
The Kennel Assistant at BluePearl Pet Hospital is responsible for attending to the basic needs of patients, cleaning the facility, preparing meals, and maintaining hygiene. This role also involves assisting with patient care, observing patients for health concerns, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of hospital equipment.
Responsibilities
- Observe patients for health concerns and report findings to senior staff
- Clean and disinfect hospital areas as necessary
- Prepare and clean patient meals, cages, bedding, and litter boxes
- Safely approach and restrain cooperative patients during treatments
- Provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs
- Clean and maintain hospital equipment and tools
- Quantify patient voids and report findings to senior staff
- Remove and wash soiled laundry and stock clean laundry
- Patrol the facility regularly to ensure cleanliness
Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates should have a strong background in animal care and experience in a similar position. Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required. Basic computer skills and the ability to follow directions are essential.
