Kellogg Center Student Cook
About the role
Cook for the MSU Football team. As a Student Cook, you will be responsible for assisting full-time staff members with the preparation, cooking and serving of food to the football players and coaches. You will help with preparing appetizers, entrees, starches, vegetables and other items. You must also be knowledgeable of all relevant food safety regulations, standards and guidelines to ensure the safe handling and serving of all meals to customers.
Responsibilities
- Cooking, preparing and serving food at the Izzo Football Building and Kellogg Center
- Kitchen clean up after meals are served
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
- Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
- Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population
- Be able to work nights, early mornings and/or weekends
Preferred:
- Serve Safe or other food safety certification
- Experience cooking or working in a high-volume food service operation
Pay
$15.00 per hour. Due to the minimum wage increase at MSU, the starting rate for this position is going to be $16.00 effective 8/9/2026. Those hired prior to 8/9/2026 will also be brought up to the new minimum on this effect date.
Schedule
15-20 hours per week during the Fall & Spring Semesters. 3 pm to 9 pm Monday – Friday and Saturdays during Football. Football game days times will vary depending on time of kick off.
