About the role
The position is for one-half time only. Salary will be one-half of the amount indicated on the posting.
Responsibilities
- The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom.
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, with a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license if hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program.
- Employees must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department and demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements.
- New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date.
- Certificated 10-Month Teachers enjoy a range of competitive benefits including 18 days of paid sick leave and state/federal holidays, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and deferred compensation.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree.
- If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, there is a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license.
- Employees must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department and demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements.
- Employees must ensure the program they have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line they are hired in.
- Upon hire, employees need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.

- Compensation: 10-month teachers are compensated for the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 10-month salary schedule for working a 10-month work year.

- Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
