About the role
The KAUST Global Fellowship Program (KGFP) is seeking outstanding, independently minded scientists and engineers to join one of the world's most dynamic research environments. KGFP provides funding, mentorship, and independence to pursue bold, original ideas at KAUST for three years, aligned with the University's strategic research priorities.
Responsibilities
Global Fellows are expected to:
- Develop and execute a research plan that aligns with KAUST's strategic research priorities.
- Engage in collaborative research with KAUST faculty and other fellows.
- Present research findings at internal and external conferences.
- Participate in KAUST's professional development programs.
Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be in the final year of their PhD, or have completed their PhD within the last four years (Call 2027: PhD awarded January 2023 or later).
- Have published at least two papers as first author (or joint-first author) in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Have two references who can speak to their potential for independent research.
- Be willing to relocate to KAUST, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.
Qualifications

Benefits
Benefits include:
- 3-year fixed-term contract (evaluation at end of Year 2).
- An annual stipend of USD 75,000.
- A research budget of USD 20,000–40,000/year, discipline-dependent.
- A relocation allowance for visa and shipping costs.
- Full benefits, including medical insurance, family housing, schooling for up to 3 children (4+ yo), and daycare subsidy.
- Annual travel assistance for Fellows and eligible dependents.
Pay
The annual stipend is USD 75,000.
Schedule
The fellowship starts in July or December 2027, or as soon as visa and onboarding formalities are complete.
