Global Health Emerging Scholars: Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025

About the Fellowship

The Global Health Emergencies Scholars Fellowship is a 12-month NIH-supported program aimed at developing global health research skills. It is open to U.S. doctoral students and postdocs from LMICs, hosted by a consortium of Yale, Stanford, University of Arizona, and UC Berkeley, with placements in 17 countries.

Who Can Apply

• Post-docs with an appointment at ANY U.S. academic institution (including individuals who will be completing their PhD, DVM, MD, etc.).
• US citizens or residents (a green card number must be provided).
• Citizen of a Low-Middle-Income-Country as defined by the World Bank.
• Advanced candidacy doctoral students or professional students (MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, etc.) who have completed 3 years of professional schooling.

Eligibility Criteria

• US citizen or resident.
• Complete doctoral degree or have received the doctoral degree within the past five years.
• Applicants from outside consortium institutions must review the GHES eligibility criteria and forward the requested information to the GHES program manager to verify eligibility.
• LMIC postdocs must be affiliated with one of the GHES partner LMIC institutions and secure the endorsement of GHES mentors in the application.

Sites

The research training for the GHES program takes place at training sites located across 16 countries, representing Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania.
