Kapingamarangi Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Kapingamarangi Interpreter to work remotely. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
• Speak clearly in both Kapingamarangi and English, using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations
• Understand and adapt to various industries' terminology and procedures
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment
• Handle emotionally and/or stressful calls with professionalism

Requirements

• Fluency in Kapingamarangi and English
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with limited English speakers
• Experience in language-related fields preferred
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements
• Age 18 or older
• Legal authorization to work in the US
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write requested languages preferred

Qualifications

• Education or work experience in language-related fields
• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship
• Access to a quiet space for work
• Physical abilities to operate a keyboard and mouse
