About the role

The Emergency Assistance and Pathway of Hope Coordinator supports the Emergency Assistance and Pathway of Hope programs at each of the eight KCAC corps. This role collaborates with the Divisional Pathway of Hope Manager and South Central Area Command Coordinator on divisional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and casework consultation to the KCAC corps’ emergency assistance and Pathway of Hope programs.
  • Support ongoing implementation of emergency assistance and Pathway of Hope programs for all metro corps.
  • Offer direct case consultation and technical assistance to case managers, caseworkers, and interns as needed.
  • Guide corps staff and officers on policy and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate monthly case manager/caseworker meetings.
  • Meet with corps staff and officers monthly to provide support and information about community linkages, program requirements, and data collection.
  • Aid in recruiting, interviewing, and training new employees involved in Emergency Assistance and Pathway of Hope.
  • Train new case managers/caseworkers or interns on the program.
  • Attend inter-agency meetings and participate in local networks as appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent communication and data quality for emergency assistance and Pathway of Hope.
  • Coordinate financial assistance in the metro area and submit monthly activity reports.
  • Evaluate and certify program implementation and outcomes.
  • Manage various grants and research new funding streams.
  • Handle complaints from persons denied assistance and manage referrals to corps for pastoral care.
  • Conduct random and annual record reviews for compliance with standards.
  • Complete basic social service reviews with Divisional Social Services staff as requested.
  • Prevent errors and ensure the credibility of the program.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in community and economic stability coalitions.
  • Maintain regular contact with employees, clients, volunteers, and other departments.
  • Provide Safe From Harm training and maintain security of confidential data.
  • Communicate effectively with community groups and media as requested.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the supervision of comparable social service programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human service area.
  • Strong interest in community outreach, organization, and capacity development.
  • Ability to collaborate on complex social issues within families and communities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to teach adults.
  • Experience in casework interventions designed to address family needs using a strength-based approach.

Qualifications

  • Sound judgment in analyzing facts and circumstances and determining actions.
  • Critical thinking, complex data analysis, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability in culturally diverse environments and respect for cultural differences.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking and understanding English.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and operate various office equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and approval through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.
