Kahuku High & Intermediate: Grade 9-12 Special Education Teacher, 604223 (2026-03264)

Hawaii State Department of Education teaching positions require a Bachelor’s degree. If hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, you have up to three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a program immediately to continue employment. You must demonstrate active progress toward licensure each year.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (required for all teacher, librarian, or counselor positions, except designated Career and Technology Education roles).
• Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
• Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
• Experience planning and facilitating Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
• Ability to exercise independent and professional judgment, maintain an effective work pace under pressure, grasp new concepts quickly, and work collaboratively.

Pay
