Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine project specifications.
- Cut, shape, and prepare sheet metal for welding using shears, brakes, and other fabrication tools.
- Perform welding operations (MIG, TIG, arc) to join sheet-metal components for HVAC ductwork and related assemblies.
- Inspect welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with project requirements.
- Measure and align components before welding to ensure accuracy and proper fit.
- Fabricate custom metal components as required for HVAC systems.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including PPE use and safe material handling.
- Collaborate with installers and supervisors to complete HVAC fabrication projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Certification in welding from a recognized technical school or training program.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.
- Ability to work with precision measuring tools and fabrication equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and welding regulations.
- Familiarity with CAD drawings and HVAC system layouts (inferred from sheet-metal worker roles).
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication or construction.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods (common in sheet-metal and HVAC fabrication roles).
- Work may occur in fabrication shops, construction sites, or industrial facilities, sometimes in confined spaces or varying weather conditions.
