Responsibilities Teach Spanish to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 using a proficiency-based, communicative approach.Conduct instruction primarily in Spanish, providing students with rich, comprehensible target-language input and meaningful opportunities for communication.Design engaging lessons that develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through authentic language use across all grade levels.Prepare middle school students with the skills required for continued high school Spanish learning: vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, writingIntegrate cultural exploration and global perspectives throughout the curriculum.Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental needs, learning profiles, and language proficiency levels of diverse learners.Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and inform instruction.Foster a classroom environment where students feel safe taking risks and developing confidence as language learners.Build strong, caring relationships with students and support their academic, social, and emotional development.Encourage student voice, creativity, collaboration, and self-reflection.Support students in developing resilience, empathy, and a growth mindset.Support students in becoming thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged members of their local and global communities.Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and learning experiences.Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.Engage in ongoing professional growth related to language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and best practices in education.
