About the role
The Juvenile Justice Residential Support Specialist provides direct care in a short-term residential treatment program for troubled adolescents, working closely with the Department of Youth Services (DYS).
Responsibilities
- Care and supervision of residents in all facets of their daily lives (physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being)
- Supervise and manage the behavior, activities, and movement of program residents, including in the community during sanctioned events
- Monitor and provide recreational activities
- Conduct group meetings
- Provide counseling and advocacy for residents
- Engage in household activities with residents, such as housekeeping, laundry, etc.
- Provide client transport when appropriate
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Must have a vehicle for work use and current driver's license
- Ability to complete medication administration training
- All candidates must complete and pass background record screening process
- Must be comfortable working in a locked facility
- Must be able to attend a 3-week DYS basic training academy during the day (8:30am - 5pm) upon hire
- Previous experience in a secure setting is preferred
- Willingness to work a second shift schedule from 3pm-11pm with flexibility to work weekends
