Juvenile Justice Residential Support

About the role

The Juvenile Justice Residential Support Specialist provides direct care in a short-term residential treatment program for troubled adolescents, working closely with the Department of Youth Services (DYS).

Responsibilities

• Care and supervision of residents in all facets of their daily lives (physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being)
• Supervise and manage the behavior, activities, and movement of program residents, including in the community during sanctioned events
• Monitor and provide recreational activities
• Conduct group meetings
• Provide counseling and advocacy for residents
• Engage in household activities with residents, such as housekeeping, laundry, etc.
• Provide client transport when appropriate

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Must have a vehicle for work use and current driver's license
• Ability to complete medication administration training
• All candidates must complete and pass background record screening process
• Must be comfortable working in a locked facility
• Must be able to attend a 3-week DYS basic training academy during the day (8:30am - 5pm) upon hire
• Previous experience in a secure setting is preferred
• Willingness to work a second shift schedule from 3pm-11pm with flexibility to work weekends
