About the role
As a Detention Counselor, you will work alongside the juvenile justice system—including courts, police, and service providers—to maintain a safe, secure environment for youth in a 24/7/365 operation. Your role is essential in helping adolescents in temporary care navigate challenges and find a path forward.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with juvenile justice agencies to ensure safety and security for detained youth.
- Support adolescents in temporary care through structured behavioral management and educational programs.
- Participate in a 24/7/365 operation with rotating shifts after training and clearance completion.
Requirements
- Minimum of 60 college credits required.
- Preferred experience in juvenile justice, congregate care, or youth-focused roles.
- Ability to pass a company-paid physical and obtain required clearances.

Training
New hires participate in a two-week, daylight, paid training program. After training and clearance completion, you will transition to the Highland Detention facility in Allegheny County, with travel costs covered during this period.
