Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Site Access

As a Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Site Access in Ridgeville, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. This driving position calls for professional communication, strong customer service, and comfort using technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and authorized guests by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, maintain visitor records, and direct individuals according to facility procedures.
• Control access to restricted areas and report unauthorized access attempts, suspicious activity, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and coordinating with facility staff and/or emergency responders.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
