Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Visitor Access

About the role

As an Access Control Officer at a government juvenile justice location in Ridgeville, SC, you will manage entry points, verify authorized access, monitor activity, conduct routine patrols, and provide professional communication and customer service. Your visible presence will help to deter security-related incidents while supporting a secure environment. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, manage visitor access, and maintain accurate access-related records in accordance with established procedures.
• Respond to incidents, unauthorized access attempts, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel as required.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Communicate clearly with facility personnel, visitors, and Allied Universal leadership while maintaining professionalism and following all applicable procedures.

Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet (preferred).
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
